I'll try to tell you a little bit about myself right now to satiate your curiosity. I'm a 20-year-old computer engineering junior at the University of Oklahoma in Norman. I'm originally from Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, but I moved to Houston, TX at the age of 15. I loved Oklahoma so much it was an easy decision to come back to school here.
My rigorous academic schedule doesn't allow as much free time as I'd like, but when I get a chance, I enjoy mountain biking, rollerblading, and shooting hoops. I'm a huge Houston Rockets basketball fan (even after their unfortunate playoff performance earlier today). I have a beautiful girlfriend, Amy, whom I adore, and I've been lucky enough to hold onto for about 14 months now.
I'm the webmaster for the Wesley Foundation at OU. It's a Methodist student ministry, and I devote most of my extracurricular time there. Please check out the site and tell me what you think. I'd love to have a pro's opinion: http://www.ou.edu/student/wesley/ . But whatever you do, please do *not* visit my home page, it's horrible! It's the worst waste of server space on the whole world wide web. I devote all of my energy to the Wesley page and none to my own. I find it a lot more rewarding that way.
I tried unsuccessfully to get a summer internship as a computer engineer or a computer scientist, and I've been tossing around the idea of designing web pages professionally this summer. I'd greatly appreciate your honest opinion on whether or not I've got what it takes (judging by the Wesley site, not my homepage whose URL is remaining deliberately secret). And if you do think it's a possibility, how do I go about getting clients? I have no idea whatsoever how to get started.
Well, I'd better get back to my studies. I'll have more time this summer to correspond. I look forward to writing to David B. I know some storm chasers here at the University. We may even have some mutual friends!
Jezzfriend,
Ryan Shepherd
